Crazy 8s (also known as Crazy Eights) is a classic shedding-type card game for 2–7 players. Here's everything you need to know to start playing!
🎯 Objective
Be the first player to get rid of all the cards in your hand.
🃏 Setup
- Each player is dealt 7 cards (5 cards for 3+ players).
- The remaining cards form the Draw Pile.
- The top card is flipped to start the Discard Pile.
🔄 Your Turn
On your turn, play a card from your hand that matches the top card of the Discard Pile by either:
- Suit (e.g., Hearts on Hearts)
- Rank (e.g., 6 on 6)
Or play an 8 (Wild Card) at any time.
⭐ Special Cards in Crazy 8s
- 8 (Wild): Can be played on any card. The player who plays it chooses the suit for the next play.
- 2 (Draw Two): The next player must draw 2 cards and loses their turn.
- 7 (Skip): Skips the next player's turn.
- J (Reverse): Reverses the direction of play (clockwise ↔ counter-clockwise).
📥 Drawing Cards
If you cannot make a valid move (or choose not to), you must draw a card from the Draw Pile.
If the drawn card is playable, you can play it immediately. If not, continue drawing until you find a playable card.
🏆 Winning the Game
The game ends the moment a player has 0 cards left in their hand. That player wins!
💡 Tips & Strategy
- Save your 8s (Wild Cards) for when you truly need them.
- Try to keep cards of multiple suits so you always have a playable option.
- Use Draw Two (2) and Skip (7) cards strategically to slow down opponents.
- Pay attention to what suits your opponents are playing to block them.
